You’re Rocking This Look

It was a thoughtful present, quirky & simple and it came to mean a lot. Although I’d never have admitted it at the time, I properly struggled accepting my ‘illness’ card. But then this unusual pendant merging a diseased lung and a healthy lung, that was kind of pretty, helped change my view.

Behind the gift was someone letting me know “I get you”, “you’re rocking this look”, “you can totally do Cystic Fibrosis”. There’s a lot of comfort to be gained from the simple act of being understood by someone, especially when you’re unable to make sense of things yourself.   

So, although its’ a massive pain in my arse, like the pendant, my CF ‘card’ has its own unique way of adding interest, depth, and at times, even beauty. The opportunities it’s provided for closeness (alongside the occasional awesome gift) are other unexpected bonuses.
